Why Gray Hair is Great

GIVE YOUR DRY HAIR A HOME HOT OIL TREATMENT

If you have dry, frizzy hair, you know how difficult it can be to deal with on a daily basis. It seems to lack bounce and vitality, despite the many hair care products you apply. Styling it can be a problem since excessive brushing and use of a blow dryer can cause your already dry, damaged hair to break. How can you restore the moisture to your dry hair? Try using a home hot oil treatment. There's no need to go to the drugstore and buy those expensive little packets of oil when you can use products you already have in your kitchen and get even better results.

The simplest way to do a hot oil treatment is to get a large, microwave safe bowl and add

3 tablespoons olive oil
3 tablespoons canola oil

Stir thoroughly Place the container in the microwave and heat until warm. Once the mixture emerges from the microwave, let it set for a few minutes. Place some of the oily mixture onto your hands (don't pour directly onto your hair) and start applying it carefully to the hair starting at the ends and working up to the scalp. Once the mixture has been applied, wrap your hair in a warm towel and leave on for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, wash the mixture out of your hair and follow up with a mild shampoo designed for dry hair.

Some people like to add honey, rosemary, or essential oils to their hot oil treatment. This is fine, but probably doesn't add any significant benefit other than, possibly, a nice smell. The hot oil alone should be enough to work its magic on your dry, frizzy hair.

I would suggest doing a hot oil treatment every 2 weeks if you have dry or damaged hair. Hot oil treatments are particularly good for hair that's been bleached or color treated. When performed on a regular basis, these home hot oil treatments can be quite effective in improving the overall look and feel of dry hair. They work far better than an expensive conditioner purchased at a hair salon.

It's nice to know in this world of expensive hair care products that something as simple as a homemade hot oil treatment can restore the vitality to your dry hair. Give this hot oil treatment a try and you'll not only be treating your dry, damaged hair but saving money at the same time.
